Last night I had the opportunity to speak at an “Empty Nesters” meeting. What a wonderful group of individuals! You could feel the concern and care they have for their families and for all they associate with. I appreciated the organizer, Ken Lovell, inviting me to attend and speak at this lovely event.

Yesterday was an exciting day at the Relief Society Building. All past Primary presidents and their board members gathered for a luncheon. I was privileged to be a hostess for that event and so much enjoyed meeting and visiting with the guests. One guest in particular was a treat to meet with–Daryl Hoole. I have long admired Sister Hoole. I used her book The Art of Homemaking as my guide when I was a young mother. This even yesterday was a remarkable memory for me.

I’ve been to a lot of booksignings over the past few weeks. What a delight it is to see some of you at my signings! I love visiting with you and really appreciate your support.

A number of booksignings are confirmed for the rest of this week.

May 10—Seagull Book, 448 W. Antelope Dr., Layton, Utah, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

May 11—Deseret Book, 135 North 545 West, West Bountiful, Utah, from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

May 11—Deseret Book, 10673 South State Street, Sandy, Utah, from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M.

May 12—Seagull Book, 1720 S. Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, UT from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

At the Seagull store on the 12th, I am giving away 8 X 10 framed embroidery to the first two customers who meet with me and purchase five or more copies of A Woman’s Power.

This Monday, May 14th, I’ll be speaking at an “Empty Nesters” meeting in Riverton. You’re welcome to join me at this function. If you have an interest, e-mail me and I’ll give you the address and time.

No, the selected piece won’t be included in the newsletter, but it will get promoted there and the author will get a good edit .

Sunday there was a review for my book A Woman’s Power in the “Deseret News.” Although the reviewer did not spell my name right, I think the review ended on a positive note.

Drawing and Booksignings

I enjoyed my visit to Arizona the first week in April. I was able to see my parents, daughter and family, and my brother and family. While there I signed books at a wonderful independent LDS bookstore—Latter Day Cottage. Thank you to those of you who stopped by my table.

As promised, April 11^th I put all my fans’ names in a container for a drawing for a complimentary copy of my small, gift book Daughters of God You Have What It Takes! The next day I mailed the copy to the winners—Mark and Marie Alldredge.

Recently “Home Makers for America . . . gardeners for liberty” asked me to write an article for their newsletter. Don’t you love that term “gardeners for liberty”? I will be speaking this Tuesday evening, April 24^th, at the Draper, Utah, Crescent 25^th Ward LDS Book Club at 7:30. It is being held at a book club member’s home—393 E. Cranberry Hill Drive, Draper. Today they provided for me some GREAT questions for discussion, both regarding my book A Woman’s Power and the writing process in general. You’re welcome to join me at this book club function.

I was happy to find A Woman’s Power featured in many promotional flyers this month (Books & Things, Deseret Book, Moroni Books and Gifts, and others). I had sweet, spiritual experiences putting that book together and am praying it finds its way into the hands of those who may benefit from it.

I was happy to find A Woman’s Power is featured in today’s issue of “Books & Things.” One of my husband’s clients came in to the office and said, “I didn’t know your wife was an author.” Larry said, “Yes, but how did you find out?” The client replied, “Her book is featured in the ad that came in the paper today. I’m going to buy some books and bring them in for her to sign.”

Today it’s raining and all the beautiful tree blossoms are blowing in the wind. Oh, correction, it’s snowing!! So the extra boost with the fun exchange Larry had with his client has made my day

Wonderful Booksigning/Events and Drawing Coming Up

I enjoyed seeing many of you last Saturday (March 31^st) at the Ft. Union Deseret Book store. Thank you so much for stopping by my table. It was such a fun signing!

Anita Stansfield (http://www.anitastansfield.com/) was on my left, Josi Kilpack (http://www.josiskilpack.com/) behind me—she was serving banana splits to promote her new mystery—Wendy Paul (http://www.wendypaulcreations.com/) on my right—serving cupcakes and cookies to promote her cookbooks—and the Lion House clerk checked with me every few minutes to see if I wanted anything to eat (for free). I was too busy signing books and visiting to get any of the treats! With my food allergies, I wouldn’t have eaten anyway, but with such a wonderful, crazy crowd of women it sure made it fun.

A Woman’s Power is selling well thanks to you great readers. I will be in Arizona at the Latter Day Cottage signing books on Friday. I’d love to see all my Arizona friends there. So please come in and say hello—April 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (2820 East University Drive, #102, Mesa—corner of University and Lindsey).

I hope you all have a beautiful Easter and a happy spring. With the tulips just opening outside my office window and the pink and white blossoms now on the trees, there is a marvelous feeling of renewal and an appreciation for new beginnings. Thank goodness Jesus Christ gave us the ultimate hope for “doing it right.” Each new day provides the opportunity to correct our paths, knowing He will forgive us if we do our part and follow His guidance.
